There are so many layers connected with holidays. It is easy to feel the demands of the past and the present. It is a time when comparisons run amok and guilt and shame can easily raise their heads. We can even feel bad about feeling bad about a holiday. How ironic that a holiday can present a bigger challenge than any other day. We are approaching Thanksgiving and it presents an opportunity to bypass the baggage of the past and the heaviness of comparisons and move our hearts directly to gratitude. From the smallest gifts to the largest ones, we are rich beyond belief. The blessings of life every day are incalculable. We have been given so much, give us one thing more, a grateful heart.
