Gratitude

The holiday season can be very taxing on the mind, the emotions and the body. The emphasis of the world around you is on demand. In order to counteract this energy, you want to be very sure that you choose to focus on what has already been supplied. Gratitude is not simply a sentimental practice, it is also a great counterbalance for the demands you feel at this time of year. As you allow yourself to focus on the ways in which you and those you love are blessed, you will find yourself filling with the energy of love and gratitude. This filling will help you balance with the demand you feel, for yourself and for those you love. What thing you might buy could possibly replace the good health you enjoy? What thing you might buy for someone you love could possibly replace how much you care about them?

Stress often produces feelings of emptiness. It sends us to the pursuit of things which cannot possibly fill us up. In the midst of the chaos, find a few moments to breathe and to remember the richness and beauty of life. Make that your focus and the filling that results will bring you into balance.
