Remember that you have power over your own emotional states. When we are under stress, the emotions that accompany that stress are unsettling and unpleasant. We have been given tools to lessen or release the stress and with that release, the emotions that accompany it. Some thoughts and actions support release and some support the stress package. If you find yourself withdrawing and staying withdrawn, numbing and staying numb, you are actually creating an emotional environment which supports stress. While it is completely understandable that we might withdraw initially, it becomes dangerous if we are unable to change gears and release.
Physical movement is a great de-stressor. Thoughts which focus on our power, not our powerlessness are also good releases. Choices that are filling for you and nurture your spirit are excellent healers. Watch yourself lovingly. Make sure that the decisions you are making in life serve release. This is a great power in creating a happy life.
