Every morning is a new day and every morning offers us the chance to create a new life.  When we learn to value the power of internal perception, we understand this principle.  You are shaped, not only by the emotions you feel, but by the emotions you hold.  It is difficult to create a new life, when internally, you are holding on to old emotions.

There are so many layers connected with holidays.  It is easy to feel the demands of the past and the present.  It is a time when comparisons run amok and guilt and shame can easily raise their heads.  We can even feel bad about feeling bad about a holiday.

We have been experiencing very loud and visual tragedies recently.  It is easy to respond to these incidents by going to fear or anger within ourselves.  So often the place we need to be focusing on is the light in the situation which is neither loud nor visual in many cases.

The Line Between

There is a great life skill which allows you to hold a line between your deeper feelings and sensitivities and the behavior of people and situations around you.  Often the advice you hear is about numbing yourself to things that happen to you.  The real skill is establishing a line which allows you to look at the patterns that are happening around you with the understanding that you did not attract, create or become responsible for all of those patterns.

Much of what we believe about being happy is not true.  Most of what we believe about being happy is based on a system of beliefs which allow or disallow happiness.  If, for instance, we believe that happiness is only allowed under certain conditions, we are the prisoners of a false belief system.
